AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who was detained for his alleged involvement in a money laundering case involving alleged irregularities in the city's excise duty policy, had his bail plea rejected by the Delhi High Court on Monday.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma Sisodia denied the relief as he said he was not eligible for bail at this time.

Along with Sisodia, the high court rejected the bail plea of businessmen Abhishek Boinpally, Benoy Babu and Vijay Nair, who are co-accused in a money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the alleged scheme.

The CBI initially arrested Sisodia on 26 February for his suspected involvement in the scam; he has been in custody since then. Sisodia was earlier Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister and Excise Minister.

On May 30, the high court had earlier rejected his bail plea in the CBI case.

He is currently in judicial custody after he was arrested on March 9 in connection with a case filed by the ED.

The policy was put into effect by the Delhi government on 17 November 2021, however it was abandoned in late September 2022 due to allegations of corruption.
